Council to track compactors

MUST-HAVE:The Automatic Vehicle Locating System device will monitor the vehicle’s movement
The Automatic Vehicle Locating System in the truck will ensure waste collection in Petaling Jaya is done efficiently.
ALL the 32 garbage collection contractors servicing the Petaling Jaya city will be required to install a tracking device on their  compactors soon.

The tracking device, called Automatic Vehicle Locating System (AVLS), will enable Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to monitor the garbage collection in each of the contractors' designated zones and ensure that the rubbish collection is done as scheduled.

Announcing this  at the MBPJ headquarters yesterday, mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman said the council is making it compulsory for each of the servicing compactors to be installed with AVLS, which uses the global positioning system (GPS), to track the compactors' movement in real-time and monitor them from a control room in MBPJ.
