‘Curry powder’ robbers escape with RM80,000

PETALING JAYA: Less than 24 hours after Internet marketeer Chin Xin-Ci was nearly abducted at the car park of a shopping mall, two women were robbed of RM80,000 from the same place on Monday.

The two, who work at a Japanese goods store on the second floor of The Curve, wanted to go to a bank on the ground floor to deposit the takings for the past three days.

They were about to enter the lift at 10.45am when two men came by and threw curry powder at their faces before grabbing the bag containing the RM80,000.

The men, who were not wearing masks, escaped in a blue Proton Wira parked outside the mall. Read more ...... 

Robber ‘nailed’ down in chase

PETALING JAYA: A dramatic cat-and-mouse chase that saw policemen and robbers scaling fences and rooftops ended painfully when one of the suspects landed on a nail-studded wall in Section 17 here.

The protruding nails at the home of The Star deputy chief photographer Andrew Chong pierced through the sole of the suspect’s left foot in the early morning incident yesterday.

The suspect and two of his accomplices had earlier broken into another house and had held up a senior citizen and his daughter at knife point.

They tried to flee with over RM10,000 in jewellery and RM1,000 in cash but was foiled by a team of policemen who rushed to the area in 17 police cars. Read more .......
