Police release images of suspected ATM hackers

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have released images of some of the suspects who drained out stacks of cash from ATMs in branches belonging to Affin Bank, Al Rajhi Bank and Bank Islam.

Bukit Aman vowed on Tuesday to bring to justice the Latin American hackers who stole about RM3mil by hacking into automated teller machines (ATM) in three states over the weekend.

Private CCTVs to be linked to police control centres

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will soon have tens of thousands of closed-circuit television (CCTVs) – all linked to state police contingents and Bukit Aman – to monitor all corners and alleys, ultimately to increase public safety.

Dubbed the “Safecam Partnership” initiative, the police are coming up with a better method to link privately owned CCTVs to their central command centre (CCC) in all states and police headquarters.

In line with the United Against Crime concept, the collaboration between the force and owners of private premises forms the biggest CCTV network in the country.  Read more

Malaysian cops hailed as Asean's best

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian police is recognised as the leading law enforcement agency in the region and it is for this reason that the Asean Chief of Police (Aseanapol) secretariat is sited at Bukit Aman.

Burglary prevention

Based on the recent house break-ins in SS20, the modus operandi of most opportunist burglars goes like this: 

Once a house has been targeted, the burglar will ring the doorbell first to see if anyone is at home. If someone comes to the door, he will go off.

If the house is not occupied, he will prepare to enter the house.

Notify your neighbours if you are going away so that they can keep an eye on your house. Be alert to strangers loitering or driving slowly and checking out the houses in your area. If in doubt, alert the police by calling any of the following numbers:

Najib: Campaign to fight crime ensures people are free from fear

KUALA LUMPUR: A direct line to Bukit Aman, better-lit housing areas and safer shopping malls are among the thrusts of the Government as it goes on an all-out assault against crime. And that's not to mention the highly-visible police presence.

“The fight will be relentless to ensure that the people are free from fear,” declared Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when launching Pemandu's United Against Crime Day at the KLCC Park here.

Now, all emergency calls are directed to the police, Search and Rescue Department and ambulance services.

“Having a special line direct to Bukit Aman will enable the police to take immediate action,” the Prime Minister said.   Read more .....
