We won MBPJ Sustainable Community Award 2017

15 Dec 2017
Yeh! RA SS20 CENTRAL is the 4th place winner in the MBPJ Sustainable Community Award 2017.

Although we did not get the prize that we were aiming for, we feel really blessed that this is the 2nd consecutive year that we have received recognition from MBPJ for making efforts in community sustainability and doing our part in protecting the environment.

More importantly, there is fostering of closer ties within the community and we are able to draw the youths to participate in our programmes. Our neighbourhood has also become very much safer, cleaner and greener.
Residents feel a sense of ownership and pride in the Central Zone. Our field is one of the best kept fields. Many people, young and old, choose to come to our field to relax, play and exercise. We have been told many times that SS20 Central Zone is one of the best neighbourhood in PJ and many prospective buyers are looking for a house in our area.

We wish to thank the following people who have always been there to help and support us:-

a) YB Yeo Bee Yin, ADUN Damansara Utama & her staff
b) Cik Jamaliah Jamaluddin, MBPJ Councillor Zone 9
c) Mr Lee Lih Shyan, Director JPSPPA, MBPJ & his staff
d) Pn Zuraidah Sainan, Director Landscape, MBPJ & her staff
e) Polis Balai Damansara
and of course, all our residents who have contributed much and supported our activities and programmes.

Mayor: Offenders taking it too lightly

PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has ramped up its fight against illegal dumping – its Legal Department has begun using state laws to push for imprisonment instead of just issuing compounds and seizing the vehicles.
Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said the council’s legal officers had been told to urge the court to impose a maximum fine and jail term for those involved in illegal dumping as their irresponsible action marred the environment.
“Imprisonment is needed because offenders take it lightly as they think they can get away easily by paying the fine and reclaiming their vehicles.
“Our aim is to send the message that MBPJ is serious about curbing this problem as people’s money in the form of taxes are used for the clean-up operations,” he said...READ MORE ......

Central Zone helps to reduce waste sent to landfills

16 August 2016

Today marks the start of the Single Stream Waste Management programme to all the roads in the SS20 Central Zone. Thank you for joining in the battle in reducing the growing garbage heaps being sent to the landfills.

We have been informed by Pn Marini of MBPJ that the response in the Central Zone is pretty good. Thumbs up to all who are participating in this programme organized by MBPJ. The little effort that all of us contribute will make a positive impact to the environment.

Thank you to Mr Lee Lih Shyan (Pengarah, Jab Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal & Pembersihan Awam, MBPJ), Pn Marini Mohammad (Jab Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal & Pembersihan Awam, MBPJ) & Pn Eileen Thong (KRT SS20 Chairman) for all the help and support in getting the programme started in the Central Zone.

Get rewarded by going green

In promoting a sustainable lifestyle and green living to achieve a low carbon city status for Petaling Jaya, the Jabatan Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal dan Pembersihan Awam (JPSPPA) of MBPJ held a Green Initiative Roadshow in SS20 Central Zone with the assistance of RA SS20 Central and KRT SS20.

The Roadshow consists of a talk on conservation of energy and a demo on composting from CETDEM while Mr Lee Lih Shyan, Director of JPSPPA, MBPJ gave a briefing on green initiatives.

One of the MBPJ initiatives is the Assessment Tax Rebate Scheme that offers up to 100% annually for residents who implement eco-friendly measures on electricity, water, bio-diversity, transportation, waste and other green initiaves in their homes.

MBPJ will also be giving a compost bin to any of the residents who attended the roadshow and have an interest in composting.

For more details on the Tax Rebate Scheme, please visit MBPJ Tax Rebate Scheme   Closing date is 30 July 2016.

Our sincere appreciation to Mr Lee Lih Shyan for bringing the roadshow to SS20 and also to Cik Jamaliah, our councillor who took time off from her busy schedule to give her support to the event.

Most of all, thank you to all our guests and neighbours who sacrificed their Sunday morning to come and learn to be more eco-friendly.
