In conjunction with World Cleanup Day, RA SS20 Central invited the dedicated and hardworking Public Cleaning workers of Petaling Jaya City Council to their Malaysia Day Celebration and presented them with a small token of appreciation. Following that, a gotong-royong was held to clean up SS20 Central Zone.

Ali with the wallet that he found

Early Tuesday morning, 15 May, a MBPJ Landscape contract worker found a wallet containing cash, personal ID, working permit and medication belonging to a Nepal man in the Central Zone field. He immediately passed the wallet to one of our committee members.

We then got the help from our security guards and managed to locate the wallet to its rightful owner who works in a restaurant in Jalan SS20/10. The wallet was returned to the owner in the afternoon.

We commend Ali, the Landscape worker for his honesty and presented him with a small token of appreciation.

Ali, a Pakistan national and his brother have been assigned to work at our field and works hard to keep our field clean and tidy.

Thank you Ali! Well done and Selamat Berpuasa.

Wallet returned to the owner

5th Annual General Meeting

The 5th AGM for RA SS20 CENTRAL went well on Saturday, 31 March 2018. It was held at Cabin 8, Jalan SS20/14, Damansara Utama with an attendance of 41 members despite a wet morning.

RA SS20 Central Chairman, Mr NK Leong thanked his dedicated exco committee members and also the RA members for being very supportive to all the activities organized by the RA. He then gave an overview of the year - the highlights and successes and introduced the new food waste composter purchased by the RA in its effort to promote composting among the residents and move towards a zero waste community.

Minutes of the 4th AGM was adopted. A report and a slideshow of the previous year's activities was presented. The 2017 financial report was also presented to the members.

Compost harvested by our new food waste composter was given to each member who attended the meeting. 

The meeting adjourned with a simple brunch and fellowship among the members.

 

Tecoma trees in safe hands

Little Alexander showering tender loving care to his tecoma tree. This tree in the SS20 Central Zone park has been adopted by Alexander and his brother, James. Every evening, they go to the park to play and water their tree. It is so heartwarming to see the children caring for the trees and developing a sense of responsibility, ownership and pride. 

Thank you Alexander for helping to care for the Tecoma tree and greening the SS20 environment. Well done! 😘

We won MBPJ Sustainable Community Award 2017

Yeh! RA SS20 CENTRAL is the 4th place winner in the MBPJ Sustainable Community Award 2017.

Although we did not get the prize that we were aiming for, we feel really blessed that this is the 2nd consecutive year that we have received recognition from MBPJ for making efforts in community sustainability and doing our part in protecting the environment.

More importantly, there is fostering of closer ties within the community and we are able to draw the youths to participate in our programmes. Our neighbourhood has also become very much safer, cleaner and greener. 

Residents feel a sense of ownership and pride in the Central Zone. Our field is one of the best kept fields. Many people, young and old, choose to come to our field to relax, play and exercise. We have been told many times that SS20 Central Zone is one of the best neighbourhood in PJ and many prospective buyers are looking for a house in our area.
