Mayor: Offenders taking it too lightly

PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has ramped up its fight against illegal dumping – its Legal Department has begun using state laws to push for imprisonment instead of just issuing compounds and seizing the vehicles.

Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said the council’s legal officers had been told to urge the court to impose a maximum fine and jail term for those involved in illegal dumping as their irresponsible action marred the environment.

“Imprisonment is needed because offenders take it lightly as they think they can get away easily by paying the fine and reclaiming their vehicles.

“Our aim is to send the message that MBPJ is serious about curbing this problem as people’s money in the form of taxes are used for the clean-up operations,” he said...READ MORE ......

No illegal dumping please!

Bear in mind that disposing of rubbish on the roadside or non-designated areas not only creates a conducive breeding ground for mosquitoes but is also illegal.

If caught in the act, you may be fined.

To dispose of bulk waste, place them in front of your house and 

call MBPJ at 03-7956 3544 or 03-7954 2020 to help with disposal.

You may also call Zunnur at 018-322 3671. Zunnur is the the MBPJ officer in charge of rubbish disposal and public cleaning in SS20.

Update for the week

The past couple of weeks has been rather quiet with no untoward security incidents but beware of the Aedes mosquito.

There has been a case of denggi in the Central Zone. Remember that Denggi kills. Get rid of any stagnant water in and around your house.

Another thing to watch out for is illegal dumping of rubbish at the green belt along Jalan SS20/10.
If you happen to notice any illegal dumping at this area, please try to obtain the number plate of the vehicle and inform MBPJ at 03-79542020 (24 hrs).
