Kem Kesihatan (Health Camp) SS20, Petaling Jaya

Kem Kesihatan SS20 Petaling Jaya held on 26 January 2018 was sponsored by YB Yeo Bee Yin (ADUN Damansara Utama), Pusat Wanita Berdaya (DUN Damansara) and Cik Jamaliah Jamaluddin (MBPJ Councillor for Zone).
The health talk focusing on "Managing Diabetes" was presented by Dr. Lee Yik Yong, General Physician from Colombia Asia Hospital. The talk was followed by a blood test on glucose and cholesterol. It was well attended by 80 residents from SS20.

Health Talk on Social Participation by Associate Professor Dr. Tan Maw Pin and Announcing The Formation Of Social Connect Group 

The University of Malaya is collaborating with RA SS20 Central on a research project co- founded by guest speaker, Assoc Prof Dr. Tan Maw Pin. The Ageing and Age Associated Disorders Research Group’s (AADR) aim is to assess and create better awareness of the needs and issues of the elderly population.

The aim of the Social Connect Group is to facilitate active social participation by seniors and help them to connect to appropriate agencies and service providers.

Present at the event were MBPJ Councillor Cik Jamaliah Jamaluddin, Ms Ee Wei (YB Tony Pua's Asst), Pn Eileen Thong (KRT SS20 Chairman), En Andrew Chong (KRT SS20 Ketua Warga Mas) and Dr Teoh Gaik Kin of UM.

Health Talk - 'Falls in Older People'

A free health talk titled 'Falls in Older People' with free blood sampling and health screening was organized by the RA SS20 Central together with The Ageing and Age-Associated Disorders Research Group from University Malaya at SMK Damansara Utama, PJ on Saturday, 4 July 2015. 

The talk was presented by Associate Prof Dr Tan Maw Pin, Geriatrician, UMMC. 

Health screening included tests on lung & memory, gait & balance, blood pressure and BMI.

About 130 people turned up to listen to the talk and took part in the health screening.

Invited guests present were YB Yeo Bee Yin (ADUN DU), Puan Zulaika bt Abdul Rahman (Pengetua SMK DU), Puan Eileen Thong (RT SS20 Chairman), Mr CT Chung (RA North Zone Treasurer) and Puan Noor (RA South Zone Chairman).

Free Health Talk and Health Screening organized by RA SS20 Central in collaboration with University Malaya.

Date: 4 July 2015 (Saturday)

7:30 am–9:00am: Blood Sampling (Limited to the first 30 people only, aged   55 years and above)

9:30 am–10:15am: Talk on “Falls in Older People”, by Assoc Prof. Dr. Tan Maw Pin 

11:00am–1:00pm:  Health Screening

Venue: Dewan Sri Budiman, Sek Menengah Kebangsaan, Damansara Utama, Jalan SS20/21, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya

NOTES: 

1) Please fast for at least 8 hours if you want to participate in the "Blood Sampling". Also, bring your "normal" medications for record by the organizers.

2) Participants of the MELoR health programme are not eligible for the Blood Sampling (You have/will have a special blood sampling programme by MELoR)

3) Please immediately register yourself at the "Blood Sampling" counter as soon as you arrive at the Dewan. Blood sampling is ONLY limited to 30 eligible persons, first come first serve.

Talk on Medication and Supplements

RA SS20 Central in collaboration with the Malaysian Elders Longitudinal Research (MELoR) organized a health talk for their members and their families on Sat, 23 May 2015 at Cabin 8, Jalan SS20/14.

About 80 residents and guests turned up for an interactive and enlightening talk on Medication and Supplements for the Elders given by Assoc Prof Dr Shahrul Bahyah, Geriatrician of UMMC.

MELoR is a national research study by the University of Malaya with focus on healthcare for the elderly community.

Guests present at the talk were Mr Billy Wong, assistant to ADUN DU, Sgt Mat Din and other police personnel, Puan Eileen Thong, RT SS20 Chairman, Mr Andrew Chong, Ketua Usia Mas RT SS20 and Mr Chung, Treasurer of RA North Zone.
