Your Dog, You Clean

Dog waste carries harmful bacteria and these bacteria can be transmitted to humans and other animals when in contact with the dog waste or waste contaminated water.

One of our residents was annoyed when she returned home this morning to find the mess in front of her house. It was left by someone's dog let loose on the streets. Image was captured on Rd 16 camera.

Hope the dog owner / feeder of these 2 dogs take responsibility and keep the dogs leashed when they are out and clean up the mess left behind by his/her dogs. All of us want a clean and healthy environment in the neigbourhood.

  1. As the person who posted this may already be aware, these are stray dogs that came to SS20 Central some 3 yrs ago). After 2 months or so, the female gave birth to a litter of 5 puppies at the junction if SS20/18. There was a lot of concern from residents but none was able to do anything and I stepped out to then move the litter of puppies to my porch (by which time one pup has already died), looked after them and some caring neighbours in the same street rallied to assist with web announcements and paying for the vet, etc. 3 months of hard work later all pups were successfully adopted but no one wanted to take the 2 adult dogs. The two were rounded up - not an easy task and spayed as well so that they don't continue producing more strays. These 2 dogs then continued to come by my place to sleep at night and they get a meal too. Additionally I spent time trying to get them to follow me when I walk in the evening - so that I can pick up their pooh. I have explained NUMEROUS times to various parties that this is all I can do to help these 2 strays and I can do no more. I am not about to follow them whereever they go in the daytime to check on them. As it it most of the time they just spend time sleeping under vehicles in my street and sometimes get into my porch to do the same.

I have shared this info below as well NUMEROUS times to those who care to ask. THE FEMALE DOG CANNOT BE TOUCHED. SHE WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE NEAR TO HER. SHE HAS BEEN EATING AT MY PLACE EVERY EVENING FOR PAST THREE YEARS AND EVEN ME SHE DOES NOT ALLOW TO TOUCH HER. SO I AM THEREFORE NOT ABLE TO CONTAIN HER IN THE PORCH AREA EVEN IF I TRIED. SHE COMES IN TO PORCH AREA WHEN SHE WANTS AND LEAVES WHEN SHE WANTS. SO GET THIS! THERE IS NO WAY TO TAKE THIS STRAY ON A LEASH.
This much I can do to help these creatures. I cannot do more.
If some resident is unduly concerned and alarmed about dog pooh happening on his/her little plot of land once in a while, instead of whinning about it, just pick up the shit. I do the same when a dog or cat ocassionally does the same at my place. Naturally if I see it, I shoo it away and hope it got scarred and won’t repeat.
There is no attachment on my part to these strays. If any community member has ideas of anyone or organisation who is prepared to take them, do let me know. That is the disappointment with this blog posting. Instead of discussing a solution by reaching out to me, using arm chair tactics to just shoot out blog messages just show immaturity and lack of compassion about animals.

In any case, I have shared before that the committee can carry on whatever rounding up of stray dogs activity they need to do that the think is necessary. I am just doing my part to help 2 strays who choose my street to be their home. Quite a a number of neighbours on my street enjoy their presence since they are good dogs.

I noted another posting as well today with pictures of someone throwing rubbish. It is wrong thing to do, I know that. But I really hope committee members or neighbours has spoken and advised this person BEFORE this blog posting. Being morally right is no excuse for arrogance and lack of compassion. The person may have wronged but she too does have pride/face. So I hope she was advised previously before the posting was done.

Back to the matter of the strays, anyone has ideas where to send them, let me know. If there continue to be too much noise about these strays, kindly arrange for dog shelter organisation the committee has contact with to pick them up.
