KUALA LUMPUR: The Voluntary Patrolling Scheme (VPS) should be extended to all housing areas in the city to ensure security and help the authorities check crime, said Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.
"The VPS is capable of contributing to reducing crime rates and ensuring unity of the people is protected from any element that can cause worry and fear," he said after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the National Unity and Integration Department and police in Taman Seri Sentosa, here, tonight.
He said the government was concerned about problems faced by the VPS and was ready to offer help if needed.
"The department is making effort to provide patrolling equipment and tackle the shortage of places to build Rukun Tetangga control centres to facilitate the VPS. Read more .....
