PJ studying the need for back lanes

PETALING JAYA: The Petaling Jaya City Council is looking into several planning possibilities for future projects, including doing away with back lanes.
"We will study its necessity and see whether the feature is required in terms of safety and so forth," said Mayor Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad at a recent full board meeting, here.
If the feature is retained as a design element, the council will then call on developers to build smaller lanes. The possibility of changing its function into garden stretches or for rainwater harvesting will also be studied.
She said this following complaints over indiscriminate dumping that made the back lanes hotbeds for vermin, as that some residents and property owners are fencing up and locking back lanes, or parking in them.

Security Alert

Watch out for a white Honda with heavily tinted windows and Singapore number plate.
The driver is a fair-skinned man.

The passengers in the car tried to break into a house in Jalan SS20/14 yesterday, Monday, 1, April at around 1:30 pm.
They were unsuccessful because one of the residents staying nearby noticed the car and alerted the police.
The police arrived shortly and gave chase but they managed to escape.
