IT consultant slashed, robbed while checking bank balance

PETALING JAYA: An IT consultant was slashed and robbed while he was checking his bank balance at an ATM in Kota Damansara.

A man wearing a full-face helmet is reported to have walked up to the victim and brandished a knife in the 6.30pm, Sunday incident.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Abu Kassim said the robber had forced the victim to withdraw RM1,000 from the ATM.

“After taking the cash, the robber tried to grab the victim’s ATM card and there was a struggle. The robber slashed the man a few times before getting away,” he told The Star Online.

ACP Azmi added that the robber got onto the motorcycle of an accomplice to flee the scene.

Man shot in SS20

PETALING JAYA: Two men were shot dead in separate attacks within the span of two hours near Damansara and Kota Damansara.

A businessman was shot at point-blank range as he was walking to a relative’s house near SS20 in Damansara at around 10.30pm on Friday.

Just one-and-a-half hours earlier, a 44-year-old man was gunned down near Section 8, Kota Damansara.

On the shooting of the businessman, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said two men in a dark-coloured car approached the 36-year-old man as he was walking towards his relative’s house.

“A single shot was fired at close range, hitting the victim in the stomach,” he said, adding that the man was brought to a hospital in Damansara but died about two hours later.   Read more .....    

PJ cops to get 49 motorcycles for patrolling

THE Petaling Jaya police district headquarters (IPD) will be getting 49 motorcycles from the 10,000 units announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for the PDRM motorcycle patrol unit.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said to increase the effectiveness of patrolling, each station that received the motorcycles would focus on its own specific area.

“The Sea Park police station will be getting 16 units and we have chosen Section 14 as the focus area for the first phase. There will be four officers on patrol at a time in each of the three shifts,” he said.

The other stations that will be receiving the bikes are Sungei Way station, which will focus on the Mentari area and Damansara Utama station, focusing on the Bandar Utama area.      Read more ......
