Girth of the tree is 390 cm.

We hope that MBPJ will carry out regular maintenance to protect and preserve this beautiful heritage tree.

DU park ready by end of August

RESIDENTS in Damansara Utama will welcome a newly revamped park in Jalan SS20/12 by end of the month.

The park, which was upgraded to “active field” status, will be equipped with a gazebo, new walkway, proper lighting and outdoor exercise equipment such as parallel bars and taiji wheel.

Resident Hui Seng Kit, 50, said a better equipped park would encourage people to spend more time outdoors, exercising. READ MORE ......

Beautification Project at entrance of Road 12 taking shape

Work is progressing well for the beautification project for the entrance into Central Zone. A concrete kerb and path has already been constructed. Very soon, you will be able to see the transformation from an unkempt spot to a pleasant corner.

Appreciation goes to members of the Environmental Committee, RA SS20 Central who have been studying on different options to improve the appearance of the entrance.

SS20 residents celebrate Malaysia Day with cops

RESIDENTS from SS20 Damansara Kim got together with policemen from the nearby Damansara station to hold a potluck party to celebrate Malaysia Day.

Organised by the local Rukun Tetangga and other neighbourhood organisations, representatives from other resident bodies and Rukun Tetangga (RT) in Damansara also attended the celebrations along with Damansara Utama assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin.

Damansara station deputy commander Sub-Inspector Mohd Isa Abdullah handed out certificates of appreciation to residents who had been active in the neighbourhood’s community policing scheme.   Read more ......

RAPE IS RAPE, NO EXCUSES - DAP's Yeo Bee Yin releases video

Pusat Khidmat ADUN Damansara Utama and AWAM (All Women’s Action Society) have teamed up to run a digital campaign that aims to break the general victim blaming culture in Malaysia and to raise awareness about statutory rape, substance-related rape and marital rape.

On average, there are 3,000 rape cases reported every year in Malaysia and only 2 out of every 10 cases are reported. In another words, every 35 minutes there is one girl or woman being raped somewhere in Malaysia.

Rape can only be reduced when we as a society have greater awareness about the severity of the issue and start addressing the taboos, myths and mindsets that exacerbate rape culture. ..Read more

Community Policing Night - Central Zone

No criminal cases were reported by the police or the security guard supervisor.

The security supervisor have been told to tighten security in the Central Zone during the festive period. The police will also step up patrol in SS20.

The police brought some Police Notification Forms (Borang Makluman Meninggalkan Rumah Sempena Cuti Perayaan) for residents who wish to register with the police when they are away from home during the coming holiday period. 

Residents can obtain the forms at Cabin 8, Jalan SS20/14, weekdays from 5pm to 6pm. Please hand the completed forms to the Damansara Police station.

In view of the forthcoming Chinese New Year, Dato' Koh, Deputy Chairman of the RA SS20 Central presented the police with 5 boxes of mandarin oranges.

Anti-Dengue Gotong Royong

7.30 am:  Arrival and registration of RA members and residents.

8.00 am:  Welcome address by RA Chairman, Speech by YB Yeo Bee Yin ADUN

8.15 am:  Coffee morning and talk on dengue by Dr Katie Ang

9.00 am:  Residents will walk in groups according to their house road numbers together with MBPJ staff to inspect and clear clogged drains and where necessary to trim trees.  

The Mesra Rakyat breakfast gathering organized by the RA SS20 Central on Saturday morning, Jan 11, held at Cabin 8, Central Zone was a good start for the year 2014.

The Adun of DU, YB Yeo Bee Yin and SS20 Councillor Ir Lee Suet Sen (although he arrived a bit late) came to meet the residents at the gathering. More than 20 police personnel led by ASP Rames, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Zone 3, Damansara, Insp Zul Azri, OCS of Damansara Police Station and Insp Hariati from the Traffic Branch, IPD PJ also joined in the celebration for the new year with about sixty residents.

ASP Rames briefed the residents on how to report any suspicious activities or characters to the police and presented RA SS20 Central Chairman, Dato' Dr Vincent Ng with a poster of the e-Sector Program for Damansara Police Station. The poster shows the picture and phone no. of the police personnel in charge of SS20. Residents can contact these personnel to discuss any matters related to crime prevention.

Dato' Vincent later presented mandarin oranges as a token of appreciation to YB Yeo, ASP Rames and Insp Zul for their continuing support and help to the residents in SS20.

 

Potluck luncheon at the Northern Zone

Northern Zone residents celebrated their 2nd anniversary of G&G with a potluck luncheon at the field in the Northern Zone.

Invited guests were ADUN for Damansara Utama, YB Yeo Bee Yin, the police and residents from the Central and Southern Zone.

Dr S M Wong, Chairman of the RA North Zone, informed residents that the crime rate in their area was well controlled with the G&G. For year 2013, there were only 4 reported incidents in the Northern Zone compared to the numerous incidents reported in the Central and Southern Zone.

YB Yeo thanked the residents for volunteering their time for the benefit of the community and updated the residents on the projects that she is working on. This included combating increasing crime in the commercial area.

Robbery at SS21/11 Damansara Utama

Received the following email from Damansara Jaya Residents and Owners Association (DJROA)

"This happened on 15/10/13 about 9.00pm at SS21/11 Damansara Utama. 

Four Chinese men, well-dressed, travelling in a Mercedes, stopped in front of a 2-storey terrace house, prised open the auto gates, rushed in with parang to the grill door and rapidly prised it open. 

A family member watching TV in the house, on hearing the noise, wondered what happened outside, unlatched the main timber door to take a look. The robbers simply rushed in. Within 5 minutes, they robbed the family of cash and valuables, and fled in their Mercedes car.

What could the security guards do to help? Apparently nothing! They only knew when the victims reported after the robbers had disappeared.

Such robbers can easily pass through security guards and drive around the residential area looking for easy targets. Once they spot an opportunity, they can act very fast. They are well-equipped with crow-bars, huge spanners, parang, etc. They are experts in house breaking. They act so fast that by the time the security guards smell anything, if at all, these criminals have fled. Don't even think of the police arriving to catch them.

Be alert always. This can happen to anyone, anytime. Always lock your gates, grills, doors, and don't hang around outside your house alone, with doors open, as if inviting the robbers to come in. They won't thank you for it. Maybe chop off your head!!"

PJ council and assemblyman want auxiliary police team

THREE Petaling Jaya asssemblyman want the Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) request to set up its own auxiliary police team approved.

Damansara Utama assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin, Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran and Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San said there was a pressing need for extra police personnel.

They claim it was necessary based on public perception on the crime rate.

They added that it was also the wish of residents to see more police patrolling the streets.   read more  ......  

4 celebrations in one

Northern Zone residents held a potluck luncheon on Sat, Jan 12 in the field on Jalan SS20/26 to celebrate Christmas, New Year 2013, the coming CNY and most of all, the first anniversary of being a gated and guarded neighbourhood.

There was a large turnout at the luncheon and residents cooked up an assortment of yummy dishes.

Invited guests were SS20 Councillor Lee Suet Sen, Sgt Hamdan and his team of police and also residents of Central and Southern Zone.

Dr. S M Wong, Chairman of DU Northern Zone RA informed that since the inception of the G&G scheme, there has been no report of crime. The boom barrier at Jalan SS20/1 will be moved further to include the house next to Tadika LittleBell so that outsiders will not be able to park their cars along that stretch of road.
There are also plans to upgrade to automatic boom barriers in the near future.

Congratulations to Northern Zone residents and hope that they will continue to have zero crime rate!

Councillor Lee told residents that MBPJ will be carrying out a lot of maintenance work in SS20 now like patching up potholes and repairing drains. MBPJ will be using its funds for more development work beginning this year, concentrating on sustainable development like having more carbon-free zones, more bicycle tracks, etc.

Certificates of appreciation from the RT were handed out to residents involved in community policing.
