SS20 residents celebrate Malaysia Day with cops

RESIDENTS from SS20 Damansara Kim got together with policemen from the nearby Damansara station to hold a potluck party to celebrate Malaysia Day.

Organised by the local Rukun Tetangga and other neighbourhood organisations, representatives from other resident bodies and Rukun Tetangga (RT) in Damansara also attended the celebrations along with Damansara Utama assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin.

Damansara station deputy commander Sub-Inspector Mohd Isa Abdullah handed out certificates of appreciation to residents who had been active in the neighbourhood’s community policing scheme.   Read more ......

New Councillor for SS20

The new councillor for SS20, Mr. Bryan Chiang Chian Fu was introduced to the RA and RT Committee members tonight. Accompanying him were DU ADUN Yeo Bee Yin, MBPJ Councillor Ir. Lee Suet Sen and Mr Billy Wong from the ADUN's office. 

We welcome Mr. Bryan Chiang to SS20 and congratulate him on his new appointment and hope that Bryan will carry on the good work as done by Ir. Lee Suet Sen.

We would also like to thank Ir. Lee for his contribution to our community and wish him good luck in his new assignment.

MBPJ’s RM344mil budget

IN WHAT appears to the largest budget in its history, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) yesterday agreed to mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman’s proposed RM344mil budget for 2013.

This is to be Roslan’s last budget as Petaling Jaya’s mayor.

It was agreed upon after the councillors felt that the Environmental and Health Department needed extra funds to purchase five roll-on/roll-off lorries as standby waste collection units after residents’ complaints of contractors not fufilling their jobs.

In addition, the current “emergency” funds allocated to expedite council services has been increased by RM3mil to RM7mil.

In terms of social development, active residents’ associations (RA) and Rukun Tetangga (RT) will have their allocations increased — from the current RM3,000 to RM5,000 for RAs, and RM1,000 to RM3,000 for RTs.

RAs and RTs that had successfully instituted Neighbourhood Safety Teams will be given an annual RM5,000 each.       Read more ....    

Voicing their views on MBPJ’s budget

THE meeting rooms at the Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) headquarters were a hive of discussion as representatives from different quarters came to give their input on the council’s 2013 budget.

The recent session was attended by representatives from residential associations (RAs) and Rukun Tetanggas (RTs), as well as representatives from MBPJ, including councillors and deputy mayor Puasa Md Taib.

The attendees were divided into four discussion groups, focused on infrastructure, city sanitation, “greening the city” and social development, and moderated by the respective department directors from MBPJ.

“One prime area the budget for 2013 will focus on is the level of sanitation,” said Puasa in his opening address.   Read more ......
