Councillor joins in Community Policing

Police presence in our neighbourhood is very important. Community Policing brings police and community together to prevent crime and solve neighbourhood problems. The police become part of our neighbourhood and this helps the police get a better understanding of SS20’s needs in safety and security.  

Everyone is encouraged to join in this shared responsibility for safety and security in the neighbourhood.

North Zone – every Saturday morning, 10am to 11am

Central Zone – every Monday night, 9:15pm to 10:15pm

South Zone – every Tuesday night, 9pm to 10pm

Take precautions and be alert, women told

PETALING JAYA: The public, especially women need to be constantly aware of their surroundings and take extra steps to ensure they do not become victims of street crime.

Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin said women need to be alert and cautious when going out as they can be perceived as easy targets to criminals.

“Don’t give criminals any opportunity to commit crimes. When driving for example, don’t place handbags on the passenger seats,” he told The Star recently.

He also advised against wearing too much jewellery when going out.  Read more ......... 

Residents still want police presence

PETALING JAYA: Although resident associations welcomed the measures to reduce street crime in their areas, many still hoped for increased police presence and neighbourhood watches.

SS20 Damansara Utama/Kim RT chairman Eileen Thong said just making physical changes was insufficient.
“Ultimately what we want is the presence of police and patrol groups which are far better,” said Thong.

“We have been asking Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) for many years to light up certain dark alleys but till today, there are still lamp posts without lamps.”  Read more .....  

Be open to gated-and-guarded concept

If a residential area is not safe, frequent break-ins and snatch thefts will not only cause the residents sleepless nights, it will also chase potential property buyers away.

However, if it is done in haste and without proper planning, it may backfire in cases of emergency and will no doubt cause conflicts among property owners, which has happened in some areas. Read more ...
