WHEN the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) is ready, it will reduce travelling time between Damansara and Kinrara by about 25%.

The traffic volume will also be reduced by 50% in both directions from Puchong to Petaling Jaya.

It is estimated that traffic volume will reduce by about 30% from Taman Tun Dr Ismail, the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and Bandar Utama to Petaling Jaya.

The highway is estimated to cost RM2.42bil and it will be a 90% elevated highway. Read more

PJ residents should beware Kidex highway

Even if the Kidex highway resolves the traffic problem at the expense of a few thousand properties, it does not mean that traffic problems will not recur. MBPJ has approved numerous projects that are underway and the effects of those developments will mean more traffic for PJ, which would only incentivise a new highway as a solution to the traffic problem again.

A proposal for another elevated highway for Petaling Jaya is already there in the form of the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (Dash), and such highways simply mean that your property may be next on the state government’s acquisition list.  Read more

No more peace at Kiara Park

A RELAXING jog at the Lembah Kiara Recreation Park in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur is shattered by construction din from as early as 9am.

A visit by StarMetro revealed that the upgrading work taking place at the park can pose a danger to visitors.

Heavy vehicles such as a cement lorry and crane were seen in the park grounds when joggers and small children were there.

Exposed wires and pruned tree branches also posed a danger.    Read more ,,,,, 

Highway lane to close for 2 months

KUALA LUMPUR: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) is announcing the temporary night closure of the left-most lane on the Sprint Highway (Petaling Jaya-bound) for a stretch of 350m parallel to Jalan Medang Serai from the junction of Jalan Batai Barat until after the junction of Jalan Medang Tanduk.

The closure, to be implemented in stages, will be effective for a period of two months from today until March 11, from 11pm to 5am.

The closure is to facilitate utility piloting works at the junctions of Jalan Batai Barat and Jalan Medang Tanduk with the Sprint Highway.

The right-most lane on Jalan Damansara will also be closed for a length of 1.2km (Kuala Lumpur- and Petaling Jaya-bound) from Jan 15 to April 30. The closure stretch is from Stesen Minyak Petronas (Taman Tun Dr Ismail) to the Indah Water Konsortium Sewerage Treatment Plant (also in Taman Tun Dr Ismail).    Read more ......  

Residents want MRT Corp to be transparent

Pinggir Zaaba residents in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, want Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) to make real plans and be more transparent in their mitigation efforts before the MRT project kicks off.

“We need to be reassured but reassurance should come from real plans. MRT Corp is focussed on project-completion, not taking into account the health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) aspects,” a resident, Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Tan Sri Sanusi said, adding that the session organised by MRT Corp to brief stakeholders on construction activities was not fruitful as MRT Corp and Mudajaya Constructions Sdn Bhd were not able to adequately address various issues of concern.

For example, Akhramsyah said, MRT Corp’s reply that it would use netting to mitigate dust dispersal was inadequate.

“We want to know what kind of netting will be used. Individuals exposed to fine dust face an increased risk of respiratory diseases such as asthma and bronchitis.   Read more .......  

Damansara Utama folks running out of patience

PETALING JAYA: Damansara Utama Residents and Owners Association president Rajesh Patel said residents were losing patience.

He said they had been  waiting for the   right turn from the Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI)  interchange  to Damansara Utama for too  long.

He said they  were sick and tired of having to take  lengthy detours to get  home, as a result of its closure.

"It has been four months. We want the right turn to be opened immediately after Raya. We want  sound barriers to be put up on the flyover. We are also requesting that   the hoarding be replaced and the trees replanted."

He said the loss of the trees and the removal of  sound barriers had compounded  noise and dust woes for houses in Jalan 21/44.  Read more ........   

MRT Corp denies claims

PETALING JAYA: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) has denied allegations that it had misled residents of Pinggir Zaaba in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, into believing their houses would be acquired for the MRT project.

“We deny the allegations that we misled the group, and the suggestion that they were unaware of the existence of a Special Compensation Committee (SCC),” it said.

Residents of Pinggir Zaaba had announced they would take legal action against MRT Corp, claiming that the company had led them into believing they would be compensated accordingly for their houses.   Read more ......  

MRT line too close, say residents

HOUSE owners living along Jalan Pinggir Zaaba in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here are urging Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Sdn Bhd   (MRT Corp) to realign the MRT line on a reserve land on the opposite side of the road.

Segambut Barisan Nasional coordinating chairman Jayanthi Devi Balaguru said the committee is asking for the realignment to be moved to the road along Damansara Utama, or any other  spot  further away from their homes.

Pro-tem committee members of Pinggir Zaaba House Owners' Association, together with Segambut Barisan Nasional, recently held a press conference to voice their dissatisfaction over the location of the MRT station.  Read more ....   

TTDI residents want MRT tracks to be realigned

RESIDENTS of Pinggir Zaaba in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, want Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) to realign the MRT track away from their area.

During a press conference held at one of the residents’ homes yesterday, 44 owners voiced out their concerns and grievances, stating that the encroachment of the final Klang Valley Mass/My Rapid Transport (KVMRT) will definitely affect their lives.

“From the very beginning, MRT Corp has been telling us not to go to the press or picket and we took this in good faith, until a recent meeting in March when MRT Corp met with 25 other owners along the street (not inclusive of the 44 home owners present) and negotiated with them to buy their houses.

“MRT Corp has to understand that we are not against the project but are worried about the remaining 44 houses? While the 25 houses selected by MRT Corp have the option to stay put, sell or move out, the remaining owners are left without any options,” said Mokhtar Abdul Karim, 68, who has been living in the area for the past 35 years.   Read more .......
