Residents catch snatch thief

Monday, 2 June - Snatch theft incident at Jalan SS20/9 (Southern Zone) today at 2:20 pm.

Two residents ran out of their house when they heard a girl screaming and caught the snatch thief. The police were alerted and came within minutes. The snatch thief had a fake pistol and holster in his bag.

15 Jan, 11:40 am - Suspicious behaviour

A white Proton Saga stopped in front of house at Road 13. Man from car went down and shook the gate. The owner looked out from upstairs window. Man went back into car and drove off.

16 Jan, 6:45 pm - Suspicious behaviour

Resident and his son were riding their bicycles along Road 19 when a man on a motorbike rode right in front of him. He shouted at the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist rode off. The resident immediately informed the police. A short while later, the police caught a snatch thief in SS21 whose shirt and motorbike matched that as reported by our resident.

Snatch Thief on Road 6 (1st Day Of Raya)

• 8:45 AM snatch thief was in front of house 46 and tried to rob a foreigner lady walking on the road
• Victim threw her bag into house 46. Victim ran off
• Thief climbed the gate to retrieve the handbag.
• Thief escaped on motorbike. 2 of them.
• Motorbike license plate BJN664. Pink helmet.
• I called the police station (DU) to report the incident at 8:53am.
• Police came later, robber had left.
• Dom and William went in a car around southern zone to try spot the thief, could not find.
• Returned to respective houses at approx 9:45am.

Please be aware during this festive season due to opportunist thieves. Take care everyone.

Weapon used to break car windows

A real incident to share about how someone who almost had her bag snatched while driving in the car. 

"I had an unfortunate encounter this morning within 5mins after leaving home to the office. I was driving to work and stopped my car due to traffic on a single lane road in front of a row of shop. I was looking to the right of my car and within split seconds, the left passenger window was smashed with a hand trying to grab my bag which was placed on the ground of the passenger side. 


I pressed on my car horn furiously and it shocked the robber who was a pillion on the motorbike. He immediately retracted his hand and the rider sped off. In that instance when he was shocked his weapon was left inside my car as well (as attached picture). 


I am very fortunate to be unhurt with no loss of any personal belongings. It was a blessing in disguise and a reminder to be more alert, careful and beware of our surroundings at all times.

As learning to share with fellow females for safety, do note the following and from my own experience…

• It is a must to have your car windows tinted as it helps to hold the window from smashing into pieces. My car window was held intact with the tint despite it being smashed
• Do not leave your handbags even on the ground of the passenger side
• Be alert to surroundings even though you are in the car and the traffic is not moving
• Press on the horn as it will alert the public surrounding you for attention and it will deter the robbers from doing anything further

According to the police, the weapon is self made from electric cables and industrial plugs which is very hard and able to break windows and glasses with just one smash. Based on the condition of the weapon, it has been used numerous times. Please be careful and do not underestimate a simple item of such which looks harmless."

PETALING JAYA: Another woman was almost a victim of a crime in a shopping mall when she nearly had her bag snatched inside the toilet.

College student Sylvia Chew wrote on her Facebook page recently that she was in a toilet cubicle and placed her handbag on the ledge on top of the toilet cistern when she saw an arm snake in from the next cubicle and grab her bag.

She had noticed a man in his early 30s lingering in front of the washroom in Sunway Pyramid at about 5.35pm on Monday.

At 10.30am, a guy got his brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 snatched by a thief on motorbike in front of MAYBANK TTDI, just 200m away from TTDI Police Station. 

Victims pay a heavy price for leaving handbags on car seats

PETALING JAYA: Annie Ng (not her real name) left her handbag on the passenger seat as she got into her car and rushed to work one Monday morning.

Never did she imagine that it would be the last time she would see her Gucci bag.

Annie, 26, an IT executive, was at a traffic light junction just a stone’s throw away from her office when a motorcyclist pulled up next to her, smashed her window and rode off with her bag.

June 21

A friend almost became snatch theft victim in ttdi in front of the esso station. 2 guys on a bike was pulling on her bag till she fell. She screamed continuously and one of them got off the bike to attack her. Lucky another friend was passing by in a car saw, stopped and started honking continuously. We heard it from across the street and ran towards her and they gave up and left . This is about 200m from the police station

June 22

Last Friday, around 2pm I saw a very unsuspecting smartly dressed Chinese male walking along Jalan Helmi 10 side lane. As he was in office attire, I thought he was just another innocent guy walking . After few minutes later, he tried to break in neighbor’s car that was parked at side lane near Jalan Helmi 9. I and my son shouted to get neighbors’ attention and he ran away. I
immediately informed Balai TTDI just to get them to do some work. Within five minutes few policemen were dispatched to the scene to get clearer description of the guy. Initially, I thought this thief must have left TTDI and no way police could find him and maybe the police just doing ‘some formality’ to pay a visit because I alerted them. Without realizing, in about 15minutes more than 10 policemen dropped by at the scene and ensued to search for this guy and many
of them were in plainclothes. Soon after, while we neighbors still chatting of what had happened earlier, we were so surprised that a police came and informed that the guy has been caught! Later the police informed that this car thief confessed that he has been doing this job nearly 7 years! Lesson learnt; just call the police to do ‘some work’ even if you think that they can’t do much. Kudos Polis TTDI!
