Attempted robbery at Southern Zone

Attempted robbery at Jalan SS20/8 around 6:20pm.
Owner left gate and door closed but both were not locked. Robber failed to steal anything and dashed away. Suspect came in MYVI. Owner called DU police station. Police came a few minutes later.

Jalan SS20/8 is guarded from 7pm. Guards have not started duty yet.

Last week was not a good week for SS20, with most of the incidents happening in the  Southern Zone …  latest being a house break-in at Jalan SS20/7 yesterday morning at around 3:30 am. 3 Chinese men armed with parangs broke into a house in Jalan SS20/7 and got off with cash and valuables.

The police have stepped up patrol in SS20.

An update on the robbery at the restaurant and mini market last Friday – 10 men were involved in the robbery… a few of them went into the shops while the rest acted as look-out at different spots in the area.

Residents of Jalan SS20/8 held a meetup to discuss security issues

30 June 2013, 5pm – A total of 50+ residents from SS20/8 & SS20/9 along with the nearby roads gathered to discuss the crime and security issues that have been increasing of late. When the residents shared with each other about their experience with crime – it was alarming to hear that out of the 50+ Southern Zone Dsara Kim residents who turned up , approximately 70% of residents who turned up either have personally experienced a crime in their own home or neighbours home over the past few years. YB Yeo Bee Yin meets with SS20 residents

YB Yeo Bee Yin met with SS20 residents for the first time since she was sworn in as the state assemblywoman on Tuesday night , 21 May, at the Southern Zone. Also present was SS20 Councillor Ir. Lee Suet Sen.

During the meeting, numerous new and outstanding issues were brought up to the ADUN and the Councillor.

Some of the issues discussed were:

1. Concerns of health hazards caused by telecommunication antennas located at the water reservoir at Jalan SS20/1 and also on top of a motor workshop at Jalan SS20/11. YB Yeo will request the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to test the level of radioactive frequency emission from these antennas.

2. Security issues

3. Repairs and maintenance of roads, drains, collection of bulk rubbish and garden refuse. Councillor Lee will provide telephone numbers of the contractors for residents. He suggested that residents call them directly or call MBPJ and if still no action, then inform him.

4. Traffic congestion around the hospital area. YB and Councillor will speak with DSH and the residents concerned to try to work out a solution

5. Request for more street lights at dark areas

6. Request for Central Zone field at Jalan SS20/15 and green belt at Jalan SS20/10 to be gazetted as Kawasan Lapang

7. Free WIFI

8.  Request for a community hall to be built at the former sewerage land area next to Wisma TA

Security briefing by police - 9 May 2013

 1)    Petty theft at the Southern Zone last week. A few pairs of branded shoes were stolen.

2)    Police also informed that mobile phone snatching is on the rise in PJ.

The person will approach to ask for directions, then pretend that his phone is dead/out of battery life and ask to borrow your cell phone. When the phone is handed to him, he will run off or drive off with the phone.

Security Alert - 14 Mar 2011

Received sms from one of the residents in the Southern Zone.
Sms reads as follows:
"I live near end of SS20/6. At 2:08 am on Thursday morning, 10 Mar, someone climbed into my house and tampered with my 2 CCTV cameras facing my front gate and main grille entrance. Unfortunately only discovered Sat morning when noticed that my cameras were twisted towards the wall. So far, no sign of break-in of my house or car but just let everyone know to be careful."
