Burglary prevention

Based on the recent house break-ins in SS20, the modus operandi of most opportunist burglars goes like this: 

Once a house has been targeted, the burglar will ring the doorbell first to see if anyone is at home. If someone comes to the door, he will go off.

If the house is not occupied, he will prepare to enter the house.

Notify your neighbours if you are going away so that they can keep an eye on your house. Be alert to strangers loitering or driving slowly and checking out the houses in your area. If in doubt, alert the police by calling any of the following numbers:

Robbery - 1 Dec 2013

Received the following email from one of our residents.

" I am staying at Jalan SS20/6 and on Sunday, 1.12.2013 @ 3.30pm, I was robbed in front of my house gate (outside) as I got off my car which was parked outside the gate.  An Indian looking man parked his motorbike in front of neighbour’s house and started to take something from the luggage compartment while looking at neighbour’s house – I thought he was delivering a package / letter to neighbour and he suddenly ran to me with a parang and demanded I gave him my handbag – we were about 6 feet away face to face as I managed to step back.  I threw the handbag towards him where he frantically took it which was lying on his feet and he ran to his motorbike and rode towards the other end of the road (not the highway direction) – he in fact came from that direction too, not from highway side.  The number plate was WUW 7940, black coloured motorbike which has the look of a Honda cup (quite seasoned).

He has a moustache, age range 35 to 40 years, height about 5’ 6” and is alone (no accomplice).

This episode was witnessed by a man who was walking from Wisma TA to his car which was parked opposite my house but he rushed to his car and drove off out of fear without assisting me."

Sun, 1 Dec – 9:30 am

Intruder climbed over gate and tried to take handbag from a house in Road 13. Neighbour shouted, thief ran off and threw the handbag on the road. Nothing was stolen.

Mon, 2 Dec – 7:15 am

Suspicious behavior. Car drove up to a house, a Chinese man went down from the passenger side, pressed door bell.  Owner appeared, man went back into car and drove off.

Mon, 2 Dec – 7:40 am

Attempted house break-in at Road 8. Suspect Honda with plate no. WEW 8678.

Mon, 2 Dec – 8:15 am

House break-in at Road 15. Chinese men armed with parangs broke into house. House owner and wife were still sleeping when they heard noise. The intruders demanded cash. The suspects were seen to have operated from 2 cars, a Mercedes and a Honda.

PJ council invites feedback on changes of Draft Plan

RESIDENTS are invited to give feedback on the proposed changes to the Petaling Jaya Local Draft Plan 1 (RTPJ1) and Local Draft Plan 2 (RTPJ2). They can do so at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) headquarters in Jalan Yong Shook Lin.

MBPJ has made amendments to the RTPJ 1 (second amendment) and RTPJ 2 (first amendment).

“These changes are done based on public suggestions and comments during our workshops with them,” said Petaling Jaya mayor Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad.

She said during the full board meeting that the changes were necessary in view of MBPJ’s future transportation and development plans.

Changes in the RTPJ 1 include one light rail transit (LRT) station in Taman Jaya, which is made as part of MBPJ’s Transit plans (Zon Perancangan Transit) for 2014.

In RTPJ 2, 21 plots of land have been earmarked for a change in land status.

The affected plots include state land, recreational reserve land and public space.

In addition, there will be six changes involving public transport services.

Mass rapid transit (MRT) stations include the one at 1Utama, The Curve, Dataran Sunway and PJU5.

Other train stations include the Ara Damansara LRT station and the Setia Jaya commuter station.

Residents can view the full plans at Menara MBPJ from now until end of the year.

Clean up to fight dengue

PETALING Jaya City councillors are urged to organise regular gotong-royong sessions in their area as a way to battle the increase in dengue cases this year.

Between January and Nov 18, a total of 2,067 dengue cases were recorded by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

Sixty areas in Petaling Jaya have been identified as dengue outbreak areas, with nine areas marked as “out of control.”

“Our initiatives of fogging and larvaciding will not help bring down the numbers if the public do not do their part as well,” said mayor Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad.

She said during the council’s full board meeting that in most dengue cases, the source was found in the victim’s home and not in the surrounding area.   Read more ...... 

Security alert - house break-in

House break-in at Jalan SS20/14.

Intruder in a black MYVI was going round Central Zone 15 minutes before he broke into the house at Jalan SS20/14. He appeared to be a young man, slim, wore a dark shirt with stripes and black pants, like an office worker.

He parked his car in front of the house, forced open the gate, then went back into his car and drove off. A few minutes later, parked his car further away and walked to the house. Seemed to have operated alone.

Police were alerted about half an hour after the intruder left the house.
